Mrs Beard has also been doing a Walk for Autism for charity with the children and her support dog Billy, thank you for supporting her fundraising. She has raised over £500 already.
This week it was lovely to welcome Mums, Aunties and Grandmothers in for a Mother's Day roast dinner. There were lots of compliments to our cook who served up 120 roast dinners!
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Specsavers for their generous donation of high-visibility jackets to our primary school. Their contribution will play a significant role in keeping our students safe both within the community and during school trips, and also fosters a sense of community responsibility. We have put them to good use to walk to the church for a pancake race on Shrove Tuesday!
Reception to year 4 children enjoyed The New Wolsey Theatre's performance of 'The Hare and the Tortoise', a lovely story of freindship and perseverance to enrich our PSHE and Literacy curriculum.
In Children's Mental Health Week we took part in 'Bluesday Tuesday' following on from our Mental Health Toolkit training from Suffolk Mind.
The Sport Leaders have been organising the children to get to know the new Activall board outside to boost physical activity and competition at break and lunch. The staff have enjoyed it too!
This week we have been focussing on two of our curriculum drivers - wellbeing and environment. Our oldest children took part in an athletics tournament at Suffolk One, representing the school well and improving their physical wellbeing.
Athletics tournament 20th January 2025
We took a team of 18 children to an Athletics tournament this week at Suffolk One competing against 10 other schools. The children persevered as they tried different events such as long jump, hurdles as well as running races.
One of our Head Pupils laid a poppy wreath in the Remembrance service at Bucklesham chrch on behalf of the school.
Lest we forget.
As part of our PSHE curriculum and focus on safety, some of the children in Year 5 have been doing their Bikeability course over 2 days to learn how to ride their bikes safely, ready for High School. A great life skill.
Yew Class had a fantastic day of music and singing at Royal Hospital school this week, and really enjoyed working with 200 children to learn and perform a song to parents by the end of the day. Well done to Darli, who sang a solo part in the final performance, showing a great growth mindset.
